Welcome to the Giraffe House Pickleball Club
Come and join one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis, played indoors or out, on a badminton sized court. The net is low as in tennis and a Paddle (like an over sized table tennis bat) is used to hit a large perforated plastic ball (rather like a tennis ball sized practice golf ball).
It’s great exercise, easier on the body than other racquet sports and can be as hard or as easy as you want. The key thing with Pickleball is that it is definitely sociable and FUN!
Why not try it out at the longest established Pickleball club in Somerset – the Giraffe House club based in Charlton Adam, near Somerton. The club was set up in 2018 and has grown to over 80 members who range in ability and ages, all have a love of the game and desire to share a sociable and fun time.
There is the chance to play other clubs and take part in tournaments or coaching sessions, if that’s your thing, or you can just play socially.
Everyone is invited to join in the annual summer barbecue, Christmas meal and other social events.
Play takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday daytime and Tuesday evenings at the Charltons Community Centre, locally known as the Giraffe House from which we take our name. We also play every Monday evening (between 7 and 9 pm) and weekly on Sunday mornings at our four court facility at the Caryford Sports Centre.
So why not give it a go and come for a no obligation, free try out session. All equipment is provided – all you need is a good pair of court shoes and comfortable clothing.
